An original multi-layer production background from the Disney Studios animated film "The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea" (2000). Featuring a gorgeous palace interior, the hand-painted background with four cel overlays was created at the studio and used during the animation process. The piece represents an actual frame of animation that was photographed and appears in the film, which used hand-painted backgrounds, but all of the moving character imagery was colored on computers. The backgrounds and drawings from the film are the only pieces of production art that exist. Measuring 11.5"x30.5" overall, with the image itself measuring 9.5"x29", the piece is in very good condition with light surface scratches, minimal edge wear, and age-related discoloration to the outer margins. The piece was originally prepared for sale by the studio's art program and comes with the studio COA.
